Welcome to our school council page

At our school, we believe that every pupil should have the opportunity to have their voice heard and to play an active part in making our school the very best it can be. Our School Council provides an important way for pupils to share their ideas, opinions and suggestions and to help shape positive change across our school.

Each class elects two School Councillors to represent them. Pupils who wish to become a councillor prepare and deliver a presentation to their classmates, explaining why they would be a good representative and what they hope to achieve in the role. Following the presentations, pupils vote to elect the two representatives they feel will best represent their class.

Our School Councillors are the pupil voice of our school. They listen carefully to the views and ideas of their classmates and bring these to our School Council meetings, which take place each term. Councillors discuss what is working well, identify areas that could be improved and work together to develop ideas that will benefit all pupils.

Being a School Councillor is an important and responsible role. It helps pupils to develop valuable skills including leadership, communication, teamwork, confidence and decision-making, while giving them first-hand experience of democracy in action.

The work of our councillors also extends beyond the school gates. Our School Council is actively involved in the local community, and representatives are members of the Parish Council Youth Council. This gives our pupils an exciting opportunity to contribute their views, work alongside members of the wider community and help influence real change in the area in which they live.

We are extremely proud of our School Councillors and the enthusiasm, responsibility and commitment they show. Through listening to others, sharing ideas and taking action, they demonstrate that pupil voice can make a real difference – both within our school and across our wider community.
